Volunteers play an important role in the work of Capricorn Coast Marine Community. Whether you're interested in marine turtles, citizen science, education, conservation, research or simply have skills you would like to contribute, there are many ways to get involved.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

Many Ways to Make a Difference

Volunteers need to be a minimum age of 18 for insurance purposes. Depending on our current projects and activities, opportunities may include:

Marine Turtle Stranding Response

Support local marine turtle stranding response, observations, data collection and associated activities. Training and relevant requirements apply to stranding response activities.

Citizen Science & Marine Conservation

Get involved in community-based conservation, marine debris activities, coastal and marine observations, environmental monitoring and established citizen science projects.

Help with school programs, workshops, community events, marine turtle education, displays and conservation activities.

Science, Research & Students

We welcome interest from scientists, researchers and students who may be able to contribute knowledge or skills in marine biology, ecology, environmental science, veterinary science, water quality, marine habitats, data and other relevant fields.

Marine Turtle Rehabilitation – Future Opportunities

CCMC is working towards establishing a marine turtle rehab facility. While this is being developed, we welcome expressions of interest from people with relevant wildlife, veterinary, animal husbandry, scientific, technical or operational experience who may be interested in contributing as the project progresses.

Professional & Technical

There are many ways to help behind the scenes. We welcome people with skills in areas such as trades, engineering, pumps and filtration, IT, photography, communications, administration, fundraising, grant writing, project support and facility maintenance.

Fundraising & Grant Writing

Help by assisting with fundraising, grant applications, sponsorship opportunities and community giving. We welcome people with experience in fundraising or related areas who can help strengthen and grow our projects.
